General Overview

The COP17 Blue Zone will serve as the conference’s official negotiation platform, where Parties, observer organizations, and sector experts will work together to advance the implementation of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The Blue Zone is intended for accredited government delegations, intergovernmental organizations, accredited observers, technical experts, and media representatives holding the appropriate accreditation.

Within the Blue Zone, plenary sessions and contact group meetings, high-level discussions and ministerial meetings, thematic roundtables, and briefings will be held. Draft decisions, reports, and processes for assessing progress in biodiversity conservation will also be discussed here.

The Blue Zone will be located at the Meridian Exhibition and Events Center, serving as the main venue for the official negotiation and political processes of COP17.

Access will be granted only on the basis of accreditation; appropriate security and access control procedures will be in place throughout the venue.
